Eagle History

The athletic programs at Arroyo Grande High School have been some of the most successful programs in the state of California. From the gym, to the track, to the field, to the pool, to the diamond Arroyo Grande Athletics has produced individual and team champions from the league level through state, national, and world champions.

  • CIF Champions 1990 & 1991
  • 1990 & 1991 National Player of the Year Cary Wendell

WRESTLING

  • CIF Champions 1999, 2001 & 2019

FOOTBALL

  • 5 CIF championships in 7 finals appearances
  • CIF Champions 1987, 1994, 1997, 1998 & 2011
  • In 1987, future NFL Quarterback, Jamie Martin, was named CIF Player of the Year.

BOYS’ CROSS COUNTRY

  • CIF Champions 1988
  • 1990 National Runner of the Year Louie Quintana

GIRLS’ CROSS COUNTRY

  • CIF Champions 1984, 1985, 1987 & 1990

GIRLS’ TRACK & FIELD

  • CIF Champions 1985
  • 1998 State Discus Champion, Stephanie Brown Trafton, went on to be a two-time Olympian in 2008 and 2012, winning the Gold Medal in 2008.
