Criteria for Induction into the Arroyo Grande High School Athletics Hall of Fame

  1. Athletic Achievement
  • The nominee must have demonstrated outstanding athletic performance while attending Arroyo Grande High School.
  • Achievements can include, but are not limited to:
    • All-League, All-CIF, or All-State selections.
    • School records, championships, or exceptional performance in multiple sports.
    • Demonstrated leadership as team captain or through sportsmanship.
  1. Post-High School Athletic Accomplishments
  • Significant athletic achievements beyond high school are also considered. This could include:
    • Participation in collegiate athletics at a high level (e.g., NCAA, NAIA).
    • Professional sports careers.
    • Major awards, titles, or recognitions achieved after high school.
  1. Character and Conduct
  • Nominees must have displayed exemplary character both on and off the field.
  • Upholding the school’s values of sportsmanship, teamwork, and community engagement is crucial.
  • Their behavior as a role model for current students will be considered, with an emphasis on integrity and leadership.
  1. Longevity of Contribution
  • The nominee’s contribution to the athletic program must have had a lasting positive impact.
  • Long-term dedication to the sport, whether as an athlete, coach, or contributor, will be highly valued.
  1. Coaching and Support Staff Contributions (if applicable)
  • For coaches or athletic staff, the nominee must have made significant contributions to the success and development of student-athletes and the athletics program.
  • Longevity and success in the coaching role, including championships, player development, and fostering a positive environment, will be considered.
  1. Community Involvement
  • Involvement in supporting or advancing the Arroyo Grande High School athletic programs after graduation, such as mentoring athletes, volunteering, or philanthropy.
  • Demonstration of giving back to the school or the local community will be viewed positively.
  1. Eligibility Requirements
  • Athletes are eligible for nomination 15 years after graduating from Arroyo Grande High School.
  • Coaches, administrators, and contributors may be eligible immediately following retirement or conclusion of service to the athletic program.
  1. Nominations and Selection Process
  • Nominations can be made by any member of the Arroyo Grande High School community, including alumni, coaches, teachers, and peers.
  • A selection committee consisting of past Hall of Fame members, athletic staff, and school representatives will review nominations and vote on inductees annually.

These criteria aim to honor individuals who have contributed to the rich tradition of Arroyo Grande High School athletics.
